Weekly Update for Ask Cosmetics and my bare naked nails!

hello dear readers,and a Happy Friday to you all!
Well here we are, I took these follow up photos yesterday,but waited until today to upload them.And I have a bonus photo of one of my thumbs from Dec 11th,2011,which will show you pretty clearly the damage it suffered,and also in this post you will see how far along that thumbnail has come,as I actually was able to get photos of my thumbs included in this post.Yay!

My poor left-handed thumb,pictured on Dec 11th,a pic that I had uploaded to twitter,while I was chatting with some of my twitter buddies,about taking Collagen for the nails.There had been a special of B1G1 free at CVS of Collagen for Hair,Nails,and Bones,so I took advantage of it.

And here you see my thumb today.I attribute all the healing to this nail to the T.I.P.S nail conditioner,and of course to my body's own natural defense mechanisms. The collagen didn't do alot except grow the nail,only when it did grow it,that awkward configuration you see in pic 2,is basically what I got from using the collagen,growth,jagged but no repair. I wound up cutting off all of the offensive growth,and here are the makings of a beautiful thumbnail,if I dare say so myself!

I was very surprised this week,because there was alot of recession of the cuticle on this thumbnail. If you were to see full on frontal,like I have this week,you would be amazed and repulsed at the same time.The reason I say repulsed,is because when I noticed the cuticle had receded,my thumbnail looked at least 1/8 of an inch wider than it normally would.I wasn't really going for wider,but to this I would say,"whatever,Mother Nature." You in your ultimate wisdom decided my thumbnail should look like a double-wide trailer,rather than a long beautiful thumbnail.We will continue to plea with Mother Nature and her mercy,and also continue the treatments as prescribed,and remember that "Rome wasn't built in a day!"

Hello Everyone!

Before I start,I just want to thank Thalie for letting me do a guest post while she is in nail rehab,and I hope it's a quick recovery!

Today I have a rainbow for you!

To get this I started out at the base of my nail and did a swipe of red and before it dried I took my orange and swiped that partially mixed with the red and partially on it's own.I continued doing this all the way to the tip of my nail,one nail at a time.I wanted the polishes to blend a little before they dried to create a sort of tye dye effect.The colors I used were from left to right: China Glaze Vermillion,Sephora by OPI Caliente Coral, Ardene's Chickita,Sally Hansen's Green With Envy,and Sally Hansen's Blue Me Away.

It's so bright and fun! Although it completely reminded me of a rainbow I might have painted when I was 5.So the next day I decided to put a twist on it!

I used OPI's Black Shatter on my thumb and pinky and placed small dots of Shatter on my ring finger.I used a nail art brush and Wet n' Wild's Black Creme to draw random lines on my index finger and finally used a striper to create a zig zag pattern on my middle finger.

I love how just adding a bit of black to the rainbow,calms it down and it still looks pretty cool if I do say so myself! What do you guys think? Would you wear this rainbow? Or is it too bright for you?

Hello everyone! I hope you are having a good day. My name is Gina from Polish Nation. I would like to thank Thalie for being so generous and letting me do this guest post on her blog.

Today I have a layering mani which I think came out quite well. I love the color combinations and I hope you do too! I started it off with Your Hut or Mine by Essie. This polish went on well and I have nothing bad to say about it! It has a slight silver shimmer in it and is just gorgeous. Check out a swatch of it alone here. Next I layered on another Essie, Shine of the Times. Let's just say this polish never disappoints. I have done another mani with Shine of the Times and you can check that out on my blog for a review. For the finishing touch I created little flowers at the bottom of my nails with a dotting tool. The white was Whirlwind White by Sally Hanson Insta-Dri and the middle of the flowers was Bring on the Bling by OPI which you can see swatched here.

FingerPaints Yule Be Merry with Color Club Covered In Diamonds

I am so excited to be doing my first guest post! Thalie was nice enough to have me while she undergoes nail rehab, good luck to her!

Today I have a really awesome polish to showcase today, Color Club Covered In Diamonds. This polish is a iridescent flakie like fleck in a clear jelly base. I say they are flakie like because flakies are delicate and these, well, are not. This polish is actually kind of a mess to apply but totally worth it! I absolutely love the effect over today's base color, Yule Be Merry by FingerPaints. This is from their holiday 2011 collection. It doesn't strike me as a holiday color but thats completely ok with me! Its a beautiful hot pink with a hint of shimmer.

For this manicure I layered one coat of Covered In Diamonds over three coats Yule Be Merry. The finished product was not completely smooth with one coat of seche vite which is ok with me, but if your a smooth type of chick ;) you might do a second coat. On to the pictures!

Ask Cosmetics Ultimate Bare Naked Nail Challenge Week 1

Hello my dear readers,

I have today an update on my progress with the T.I.P.S nail conditioner by Ask Cosmetics,Inc.

First of all,this is the photo that I sent Lisa,when she made the request for ladies who were up for the challenge.

these are my nails on February 10th,when I received my kit.

This is a photo of my right hand nails , after using the T.I.P.S. nail conditioner for one week. In this photo,you can see I had just done a treatment.

I've been applying it at least twice a day,and on days of heavy housework like laundry or dish-washing,which is most everyday, I apply a third application.

Lisa told me via email that the winter time is particularly rough on the nails and that a third application would be beneficial.

As far as the cuticle "receding",I don't really notice it in this photo,however,when I look down at my nails from a side view,I notice they do look somehow different.

this is my left hand nails. I wish I could show you my thumbs. They are the worst. And for me, somewhat difficult to photograph.I am not shy about showing them to you,it's just that the camera doesn't seem to like them,lol!

And this is my left hand today after one week of treatment with the T.I.P.S nail conditioner. I have other thoughts to share with you,random ramblings that ran through my mind for the first week. I would rather keep this post without rambles,however, if you are interested you can see some of my deeper and darker thoughts on this page which is entitled Diary of the Madly Unpolished.

Some of you have mentioned that it would drive you insane to go without polish for so long,so I thought I would share those thoughts on that page. I hope you will check it out.You may find it truly entertaining :-)

When trying to come up with something for this post, I thought of a layering combo with two of my favorite polishes, Revlon Lily and Whimsical. I love to layer and figured this would be a beautiful combination.
For these pictures, I used 2 coats of Lily and 2 coats of Whimsical with no top coat.

I started with a base called Cotton Candy by Revlon. Then I added a shape like the top of a heart in Loreal's Violet Vixen. Last I did another layer of the same shape with OPI's Pepe's Purple Passion.

I really like this combo together and I got a heart vibe from it. I topped it all off with some glitter because I just LOVE me some glitter. I used Orly Shine On Crazy Diamond. I hope you enjoyed seeing my latest mani!

I received the products from Ask Cosmetics for the Ultimate Bare Naked Nail Challenge.

This is called the Incredible Protection System.It comes with Tips For Toes,which is especially formulated for yellowed,cracked,dry,or peeling nails. The Contour File which is incredibly unique in it's design. Then there are the Ask Revival Skin Milk,and the Ask Revival hand and nail cleaner,which is a mild cleanser to preserve the skins natural moisture barrier.

this is a before photo of my left hand nails.
I clipped them with nail scissors,as directed.

And this is my right hand nails.I also clipped them down.

Both of these photos of my nails were taken tonight,as I plan to start the system in the morning,with my first application of the Tips For Toes.

Hello! I'm so excited to be doing a guest post today! I'm going to warn you that this post is a little long and definitely picture heavy. Today I'm going to do a little nail art using regular polish over my Gelish Soak Off UV Gel manicure.

I normally don't wear color since I'm often my own hand model, I tend to use Gelish as a basecoat. It's a common practice among professionals to use the UV soak off system of their choice instead of a regular polish basecoat during long photoshoots that require frequent polish changes. It provides protection to the nail from repeated and excessive exposure to acetone I personally find it makes removal and application alot easier and quicker. You can do nail art with UV gel polishes and there's some really fun ones out there. Here's one I wore after Thanksgiving. A Fall color gradient design I called "Autumn Sparkle".

Ok, on to today's projects!! I started out with a fresh and new Gelish Mani and this time I decided to add a color. I wanted to show just how versatile Gel polishes can be in that you can do nail art with them and you can also use regular polish to add nail art for special occasions or for those poor souls who cannot wear nail art in the work place but love them. I went with Gelish's "Go girl" and I like to describe this color as "Breast Cancer Pink". It's one of my favorite colors in both gel and polish. sshhhh - that's a secret!

I did a few free hand designs and some stamping as well. One of the things I like about using gelish as my base color for polish nail art is that I can use acetone to create clean lines with any brush dipped in acetone and it will not damage the gelish color or shine at all.

You can also use this technique to create a french manicure. When doing a french using regular polish, it's the usual to apply the white and use your brush to create a smile line and then apply the pink polish OVER the white. When using Gels or polish over gels - the color goes underneath the white (or whichever fun color you feel like using) and then you use your brush to create the smile line. If you are doing it with Gels - then simply use 90% alcohol instead of acetone to remove the excess gel polish to create that crisp smile line.

Here's the final result on the design I was working on in the previous picture.

From this point on, I simply used acetone based polish remover to remove my nail art and begin again with my pink Gelish mani. This time I decided to use a more bold contrasting polish and some silver glitter.

Here's another Valentine's Themed group of designs. This time I used the above technique to remove a portion of a stamped design on my ring finger. There were originally six hearts but only getting those four while stamping would have been impossible. If you have a fine enough brush you will find this very handy when doing stamping since you can clean up overlap a little bit and also "fix" mistakes without having to remove everything.

Good afternoon,dear readers!

Today I have a review of a hair color I recently purchased and used.I am going to share my thoughts,pro's and cons of the product.

I had been putting off coloring my hair for some time now. I usually get my color done at the beauty college,and the ladies there always do a really nice job.

As I'd gone for a long time without coloring,my natural hair color was growing out quickly,and there was a nice smattering of gray that could use covering. Even though many people compliment me on the shock of gray I have growing from my right temple, when I look in the mirror,all I see is an old lady,lol!

So,on to the review of this product.

What I liked about it: It was easy to assemble.Put on the gloves provided,mix the colorant,shake it up,and go to town.

I also liked that it really did cover my gray.In all the years I've spent going to the beauty college,not once have they ever been able to get my gray to take the color,and that's with professional hair color products.

It also gave me a nice new hair color, more of a strawberry-colored blond, which I think is nice for the winter months. I will most likely go lighter when winter is over though.

What I didn't like is that it didn't completely foam up the way it should have.When I pumped the product out of the bottle, there was some foam,and some liquid.This did cause some dripping.I was able to wipe that off.

What I also don't like about the boxed hair colorants you find at the store,is the teeny little packs of conditioner that is included for use after rinsing.The conditioner they provide is never enough for my hair.

All in all I would give this product a rating of 3 out of 5. I believe it is probably not the highest end hair colorant. If I want something better,next time I might try a more pricey brand like John Frieda Foam hair color. I like being able to color my hair at home.

I can't yet speak to the claim that it lasts 8 weeks,as I only just applied the color today. I also don't particularly notice any highlights of any kind,however,that may change in the light of day.

And for a bit of whimsy, here is another photo of my dear little one.

I love the "spikey" do he's wearing. He get's that way right after he takes a bath.He's the cleanest of all my three cats. His hair also has a tendency to stand on end,during the colder months. He's my favorite,yes,he is,I love him more than the other two. I admit it!

Hello again! Today's post feature's a polish that was supposed to be for Pink Wednesday.Time got in my way,the sun went back inside,and I had no way to take outdoor shots. So I took these indoors in artificial light.

This is just two coats of Revlon Starry Pink. I've had it for awhile.I picked it up at Target,along with it's sister Blue Mosaic,which I haven't worn yet.

I liked the formula.I love the nudish-pink base,and the glitter is amazing! I don't believe this photo does it justice,although I am really loving the sparkle on my nails!

So how do you like this color? Are you fond of pale pink polish?

Follow up review of the Knockout Nails UV Hardening system

I wanted to write a follow-up review of the Knockout Nails system . Having paid for it with my own money, I feel that is necessary to follow up with a few of the things I noticed about this system,that I didn't find out until after having used it for some time. First of all,I bought the system in early December.The people at Knockout Nails were very good to send me a replacement UV lamp,when I called and alerted them that the lamp I had received was not lighting up properly.They sent me a replacement lamp,without my having to return the whole system,which was very good of them to do. I received my replacement lamp near the end of December,so that delayed the amount time, after I bought it, to actually start using the system.

Please excuse me if my thoughts don't seem quite organized on this issue. I am still on the fence about wether I would actually keep the Knockout Nails system,even though it is too late for me to return it for a refund.

As with all products I will advise "buyer beware." Yes,some of the claims that are made about this system are correct. The product does harden your nails. And yes, you can wear your own polish,and use regular nail polish remover with it. This allows you to have the ease of an at home UV "gel" manicure and not have to invest in polishes that are especially made for the system. I use the term "gel" loosely in this post,because this product is not actually advertised as a gel. The product is a hardener,and as I said before,it does harden the nails.

On to what I have found that I do not like. I wore glitter nail polish for New Year's Eve.I removed it with the foil method and acetone-based polish remover. The hardener remained on my nail,except for one nail which seemed awkwardly marred by the acetone.By this I mean the hardener seemed to have puckered,and there was also a big space where there was no hardener at all.

Fast forward to Jan 23. I removed the glitter worn in my last post,with the foil method and non-acetone polish remover. Naturally non-acetone takes longer to remove glitter,and as I had to leave the foil on longer,I was shocked to see that on most of my nails half of the nail,from the cuticle forward, the hardener was removed.Big gappage. Something to remember here though, you do have the ability to go back with your system,fill in the gaps with bonder,and fill the gaps also with hardener,so that you get a smooth finish once again.So that is fixable in a sense.

You also have your REMOVE FILE.Here is another problem. The remove file,no matter how hard I tried,I couldn't remove the rest of the hardener that was left on my nail with the remove file.I filed,and filed,and filed away,or I like to akin it more to buffing,not filing. If I polish my nails now,and upload photos,you will see a visible line where there is no hardener, and where the hardener picks up. As I am going naked soon,I will not go back and fill the gaps.However,in order to remove the rest of the hardener,I will probably have to use acetone,because I want my nails to be in their natural condition once I start the Ultimate Bare Naked Nail Challenge mentioned here .

And that brings us to the final point I want to make about removal methods. I haven't tried any other type of in-home system,like Red Carpet or Gelish soak off methods. I know that these systems require you to soak off the gel polish. I didn't like the idea of using that type of system in the first place,because I know any kind of soaking,wether it be in acetone,water,or a special solution,will weaken the nail plate. I believe that Lisa explained it the best when I read her Facebook update here . Essentially, water,and I believe any of these other liquids I mentioned,once they enter the nail tissue,cause your nail to swell,and then as quickly as they go in,they evaporate,causing the tissue to shrink.This is what causes dry,brittle and weak soft nails,like I have had. I did notice that two of my fingernails,felt very weak,not hard,after I used the foil method with non-acetone polish remover. I don't know of any other really reliable method to remove glitter. And the fact that the rest of my nails are still "hard" is due to there still being some hardener left on the nail.

I know this is a long rant,I told myself I would try to make it short,before I wrote it,however,writing it,has made me realize that the Knockout Nails system is just another artificial means to helping you have long "strong" nails that you wouldn't normally have. I wouldn't go back to wearing glue-on nails,for sure,but I still believe there are some epic fails with this system.

In closing,I will say,that if I could return it and get my money back,I might. I am not sure if I am comfortable with having to use this system, the rest of my life,as I will always have to fill in the gaps once hardener has lifted, and my natural nail beneath the hardener,and without the hardener, will return to it's weakened state.

This is my honest opinion on the Knockout Nails system,after having used it for a whole month.

After using this system I can no longer recommend it's usage due to the above reasons.

Hello dear readers!

This is a photo of the polish I've been wearing since Saturday.It's Wet n' Wild All in the Cut. It's shown here pictured in artificial light,wearing two coats.This is such a pretty glitter.It's a lavender microglitter in a clear base with small round pink glitter.

I didn't think I would be posting another NOTM (nail of the moment) but when I found out on Wednesday,that I had been accepted as one of the participants in ASK Cosmetics Inc. Ultimate Bare Naked Nail Challenge , I realized that maybe, after being naked since around the 9th of January,I really want to knock out a few more nail posts before I actually go naked for 12 weeks!

It's funny how when you know you're not going to be able to wear nail polish for 12 weeks,you suddenly want to wear it. I haven't felt like doing my nails recently due to their poor condition,so I am super excited and eager to try Lisa's nail care products! I haven't polished my nails since Jan 4th. And I don't intend to until I am ready. I haven't forgotten about my blog. I am still reading my favorite blogs,tweeting,and rarely on FB. I don't want to wear drugstore nails anymore. So I am waiting for my nails to grow out to a length that is comfortable for ME. I really can't polish my nails until that happens. I have a commitment to myself to see this through.

I am a bit puzzled by my nail growth. My non-dominant hand (right) nails are growing out well at the same length except for the index finger. The left-hand,my nails are still super short.So those seem to be growing very slowly,except for the ring finger,which is way longer than the others. I haven't cut any of the length back on any of my nails. I am still taking the Collagen for Hair and Nails from CVS.Taking biotin too.

I have had it on my mind to do some makeup and skin-care related posts.

Other than that,I hope you will stick around.It may be awhile before I return with anything nail-related,so please be patient with me,is all I ask. Thank you.

Color Club Foil Me Once

It looks a little sheer maybe? I've had this on for a couple of days. I kind of like it.A nice soft pink foil.It covered in one coat,but I used two. I love the Foiled colors. This is just one of them.

And speaking of foil...I can't help but mention this on here tonight,because I had tried the Foil Method of glitter removal before,with Acetone and I decided to ask some of the ladies in the Facebook group, about using the Foil Method with non-acetone polish remover.I've been on the fence about using my glitter polishes lately,because I don't want to damage the Hardener from my Knockout Nails treatment.

Since using the system,I've found that acetone can damage the layers of hardener,if you immerse your nails in it,like I do with the Sally Hansen Kwik Off. This has been my go to method of removal for most polishes,however,with glitter it's a different story altogether. The other nite,I must have spent an awful lot of time,just removing glitter by soaking cotton ball after ball,and scrubbing my nails viciously until China Glaze Marry a Millionaire was not completely off.I then scrubbed my nails with a toothbrush and hand exfoliating scrub. That did most of it,but gosh,I didn't have to go through all of that!

I also asked my twitter friend @For Me,It Works tonight,who was about to remove a glitter mani,using the very same method.She told me non-acetone works for her!

I performed a little experiment,just to be safe,on one nail.I layered Wet n' Wild It's All in the Cut,and then a layer of China Glaze Marry a Millionaire. After it dried,I soaked a cotton pad in Beauty Secrets non-acetone,wrapped my thumb in foil,waited for about 15 minutes,and woila,my nail was bare,and my hardener from Knockout Nails still intact! Yay!

So,there I learned something new and very valuable and necessary for me.Thank god I was willing to try it,as I would have to give up my entire collection of glitters,and OMG,I am just over the moon for the next batch of glitters to come out in spring the ChinaGlaze Prismatics! Did I say I was going on a no buy for 6 months? Eh...

Knockout Nails UV Hardening System Review

Sometime in early December I saw a review of Knockout Nails on The Shades of U Makeup blog. After I saw her review I was very impressed,but decided to google a bit,to see if anyone else had reviewed this new at home salon system. It turned out that Phyrra had also done a review of the system.I used Phyrra's discount code,and got the system for $10 off. Here are some pics of the system.

a) Lint-free cleaning pads
b) Cleaner
c)Bonder

g) top coat
h) 3 types of nails files-File,Smooth,and Remove
i) orangewood cuticle sticks (not pictured)

This is an after photo of the same hand. Notice the glossy finish.That remains even after you've applied your own nail polish and removed it.Or if you don't like a high-shine gloss,you can buff with the Smooth file for a matte finish.

1.File your nails to your desired shape.
2.Clean your nails with the Cleaner and lint-free pads.
3.Apply Bonder.
4. Apply Hardener.
5.Cure under the UV lamp for 2 minutes.(it's already pre-timed for you)
6. Apply a second coat of hardener.
7. Cure again for 2 minutes.
8.Clean again with the Cleaner,as there will be a tacky residue after curing.
9.Polish your nails.

You can polish your nails with the 2 minute polishes that come with the kit,or you can polish your nails with your own nail polish. Yes,I said you can use your own nail polish! Isn't that wonderful?!

I love this system.For me it's a miracle,because before I used it my nails were so soft and squishy they would tear at the slightest touch.Seriously. I've tried alot of treatment products,not knocking them,but they haven't worked for me. Now my nails are hard to the touch,shiny,even after polish is removed,and another really great thing is that you can use any polish remover,and it will not damage the hardener.So you can change your polish as many times as you want.

My first international swap...Essence Vampire's Love LE

So, Shannara and I were both swap "virgins" until recently. :-) We started planning our swap sometime in October,when I asked if she would pick up the Vampire's LE polishes for me. I have been all into the vampire lore for some time now.I've read just about every Anne Rice novel that's ever been published,I loved the Dark Shadows soap opera from the 1990's(?) I put a question mark next to that,because I can't exactly recall what the exact time frame that show was,but it was really amazing to tune in every week and watch Barnabas Collins,played by Ben Cross,and all of the other neat people in the cast of that show. I sometimes watch the reruns when there's a marathon on cable. I won't go into ALL of the Vampire stuff I love,or maybe I will. I absolutely loved the movies "Underworld" and all of the sequels with Kate Beckingsdale,and I also really liked REsident Evil,even though it wasn't a vampire tale. What else vampire can I mention in this post? Oh,well,who can forget Buffy the Vampire Slayer and her pal Angel? Which brings me to share you the pics of the polishes Shannara sent me.

First the cute little Christmas card she sent! I love bunny rabbits!

A craptastic photo of some of the polishes.Just not getting good lighting in here tonight. But from the top,there is Essence Nail Art Cracking top coat in Crack me! Blue. I don't have crackle this color. To the right of that is an Essence Colour and Go in Make it Golden,a glitter. The one next to that is Time for Romance,a burgundy glitter with large glitter and what appears to be tiny holo glitter mixed in.

On the bottom row are the Vampire's Love nail polishes,True Love,Into the Dark,Gold Old Buffy,The Dawn is Broken,and Hunt Me if You Can.

Also not pictured are two more Colour and Go polishes in Space Queen and another one called Hard to Resist,which is a navy shimmer. I couldn't get those two polishes to stand up on top of the others the way the other three did.

I want to thank Shannara very much for swapping with me. She is a great swap buddy! For first time swappers I think we both did really well,especially for her,since she sent me a few more polishes than I sent her.

My Top Ten Manis of 2011

Well,it's almost over ladies! I am so glad we are finally heading into the new year! With that in mind I am going to show you my top favorite manis of 2011! They are not really in any particular order of favor,so much as the order in which I posted them,from near the beginning of my blog until now.

This has got to me my most favorite of all,because I had such incredible good luck with the Konad treatment.It came out so well. This was a couple of coats of Zoya Buffy as a base,with Konad special polish Dark Orange. I don't remember what plate I used.

Next is my namesake from Zoya Natalie.

Number 3 is Zoya Uma

Fourth in line is Color Club Fashion Addict.

Fifth is China Glaze Laser Lime from the Tronica collection

In sixth place I have China Glaze Techno Teal.

Seventh is SinfulColors Let's Talk

GFC vs. Bloglovin'

Good afternoon lovely followers!

I wanted to help clarify some things about the post I made here yesterday .

A few days ago I read on The Crumpet this post . When I first read it,I was thinking " Oh,god,not another website that I have to sign in to and create a new account on." I already have so many different accounts,Twitter,Facebook,IntenseDebate,Disqus,to name a few.So tired of having to log in and remember all my passwords.Half the time,I can't remember them all. So anyway,I blew it off at that point.

A day after that, I read a similar post on Nails Adored, whose blog is not on Blogger. She will lose alot of her followers,because GFC will not be allowed unless you're blog is on Blogger,and her blog is NOT on blogger.

If you read both of their posts,it will give you a more clear explanation than I can.

Basically, I would not want to lose my followers,due to this inconvenience.Plus there are alot of advantages to being on Bloglovin',adding your blog to it,since there are alot of other nice blogs to read,and more opportunities for other people to follow you,who cannot follow you through GFC.

So anyway,I just wanted to clarify why I added my blog to Bloglovin. I didn't tell you all the details yesterday,because basically I was too tired to go through all of the malarkey of having to write this post.

I hope this helps clarify any confusion.

I completely forgot which Maven profile I had picked,so it was a total surprise to see what I received in my one penny box! It turned out I picked Boho Glam! Here are some pics!

Here is the red box it came in.Inside is a white paper bag with red snowflakes all over it! Very festive!

I am looking forward to trying out both of the nail colors! I love a good red-brown,and the green laquer looks absolutely fabulous. The little bottles look so dainty! I am sucker for pretty packaging! :-)

SinfulColors Holiday 2011 Swatches and Review

I'm back,at least for a bit,with swatches of the SinfulColors Holiday selection. These polishes are super inexpensive and can be found at your local Walgreens for only $1.99 each.

First up is Midnight Blue,a bold bright twist on navy.

This is a really nice blue shimmer.I found the application was very smooth,and covered very easily in two coats.

The second one I have for you is Last Chance,an emerald creme with depth and allure.

This one also had easy application. It covered in one coat,but I did two for good measure. It was a little hard to capture on film,because it kept wanting to show up black on my camera.

Next is Out of This World,a perfect silver with swirls of glimmer.

I found this one to also have easy application.It was still sheer after two coats,but I didn't mind the little bit of VNL. This has to be one of my favorites of the bunch. It's a very snowy silver.I couldn't stop staring at my nails,while wearing it!

Next is Daddy's Girl,a deep purple jelly with a drizzle of shimmer and glitter.

Easy application as well.It went on sheerly at first,but after three coats it was opaque.The neat thing about this one is that with each coat,I kept staring at the glitter bits in the polish.It's just too pretty to capture it's full beauty.With purple being my all time favorite color,this was easily another one of my faves of the bunch,and the glitter kicked it up a notch or two!

Next is one of the art brushes that came with this set,it's called Flower Girl, a bronzy gold with tons of sparkle. It's not meant to be worn as a polish but here it is fully swatched.

I suppose you could wear it as a polish,as the glitter is very dense.

Lastly I have Sugar Sugar ,a candy cane red hot tint.

This one I wore as my holiday mani,with the gold art brush,however I didn't get any photos of me actually wearing it.It's a gorgeous red shimmer,perfect for the holiday! Here you also see SinfulColors Fashionista,

a glitter laden pewter,swatched in one thick stripe over the red.Fashionista is a silver glitter in a clear base.I found it difficult to make it opaque.It was not as densely packed as Flower Girl.

In conclusion, I believe there are some nice colors in this Holiday collection,however,I know at least two of these are re-promotes,such as Daddy's Girl and Last Chance.I hadn't ever heard of the other three polishes,as I do not own alot of SinfulColors brand. I do believe they have a very nice formula,for a drugstore brand polish,and with a price point of $1.99 each,I don't believe these can be beat. I do want to mention though,that it would be nice if Sinful Colors would make more NEW COLORS. I do know that there were a few new colors that came out last year with Sinful Adventure Island,which was near dupe collection in response to OPI's Stranger Tides collection. There have also been a couple of new colors introduced into the line sporadically like Winterberry and Unicorn.Those are just a few that I know of.

I think all of us would like to see the new SinfulColors collections released with ALL NEW colors,instead of constantly re-promoting the shades in their core line. I feel like I may be on the verge of a lecture here,so I will leave it at that :-)

Just a quick note. My last real nail polish post was at the end of November. On December 3rd,I started taking something called Nature's Bounty Collagen, for hair,nails,and skin,it was B1G1 free at CVS that weekend,so I am still taking it, and some Biotin,along with my usually daily vitamin, and have been pampering my nails when I can.I don't think I am going to continue wearing glue-on nails anymore. Here is a picture I posted on Twitter over a week ago,

Anyway,thank god,thumbs don't ever show up in my swatches,LOL!

I haven't blogged in about a week now.I have no nails to blog with,except for my glue-ons,and I am seriously thinking of giving them up,because they are not really helping me grow my nails out.I am trying Seche Rebuild,another nail treatment,to see if this might help my nail recovery.

So today I took out some nail wheels and swatched all the glitter polishes I've acquired in the past month. I don't post haul photos because I don't want anyone to get any expectations about what I may or may not post on my blog.When I first started blogging in March,I posted a haul photo,and got a comment almost immediately saying," I can't wait to see swatches!" I felt incredibly intimidated,because my camera skills were terrible at the time,and second,I don't really like swatching a whole collection on demand. I know,not much of a people-pleaser,am I? That's just me.

You can call me a slacker,if you want,but that is how I roll. Anyway, as I was swatching to nail wheel,I realized it might be fun to take two,or three,or four of my polishes and layer them over my current mani,which is Accessorize Notorious,one of the polishes I received from Jenni at Gold Speck Nails

Here are the contenders:

Orly Rock Solid,Wet n' Wild Diamond in the Rough,Sally Hansen Gem Crush in Glitz Gal,and China Glaze Some Like It Haute

While Orly Rock Solid,is technically not a glitter,I wanted to see how it's holographic properties held up against the glitter polishes. I was surprised at what I was able to conclude from this comparison.

I am not really sure that these photos do it justice,but I am hoping it will give an idea of what I am comparing. It is truly amazing how all three of the glitters can look exactly alike,and yet there is one that is the absolute stand-out of the three,and it turns out it is the cheapest one! Wet n' Wild Diamond in the Rough is hands down the glitter queen of these three polishes.After applying Sally Hansen Glitz Gal to my index finger,I thought oh well,because I had already applied the WnW to my thumb.Then came China Glaze Some Like It Haute,which I applied to my ring finger,again,meh.

As far as Orly Rock Solid,you can tell that it is terrific layered.Layering it seems to bring it's holo out. When I swatched it on the nail wheel you could tell that there was not much holo about it.It was flat compared to the other three polishes.

So,there you have it. IMHO, Wet n' Wild Diamond in the Rough is the glitterific polish of these dupes.It has the most holographic glitter,and if you can still get your hands on it,I would buy multiple bottles of it,and hoard it like a cheap suit. :-)

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone who is celebrating today!

I finally had some time to swatch these gorgeous polishes!I must have swatched and reswatched them a couple of times each,except for the glitters.

I can't even decide which one of the group is my favorite.They are all so pretty and festive-looking,especially the glitters.

First up is ESSENTIAL Emerald

ESSENTIAL Emerald is described as a take on the classic tree and plant-inspired gem of shade,with delicate glimmer and unparalleled amounts of glamour.

I used two coats for this swatch,and I would definitely describe it as an emerald gem green creme.It took me some time to get used to it,as I am not used to wearing holiday greens. I have to say that after wearing it,I really started to like it alot. It went on really smooth and covered in two coats.

Next up: REVIVE Ruby Red

I absolutely adore this color! It is described as a shimmer-infused Wizard of Oz-inspired shade of crimson.This one also covered in two coats.

Next for you,I have: PASSION Purple

This one is described as a bombshell-boysenberry with subtle silver meshed throughout.While I was able to detect the silver in the bottle,I wasn't able to capture it on the nail. This is a very beautiful shade of berry that covered also in two coats.

The final two polishes in this group are glitters.

First is SERENE Silver.

Serene Silver is described as a seasonal sizzler like no other: shine,chic,totally unique in the metallic scene.
Coverage was incredibly easy.One coat would have been enough for me,two coats was fine too,I am showing it at three coats,because I just couldn't get enough of this beautiful mix of bling! This is not just any silver glitter! Throughout the polish, are fine pieces of red and green glitter.It is definitely a scene stealer. I can totally see this one as an accent nail with Essential Emerald. Even alone it is gorgeous.

Finally my favorite of the two glitters is RESOLUTION Red.

RESOLUTION Red is described as a red-meets-copper spin that's sequin-look-alike laden with high-shine and sparkle. I am showing it here at two coats. One coat is actually enough for opacity. To me it appears golden in the bottle with red and copper microglitter. This photo does not do it justice,however,I feel it is the star of this collection!

I have one more thing to say about the glitters.These are truly amazing as far as coverage,formula,and even removal. They go on really smooth,opaque in one coat,and are so much more easy to remove than some of the glitters we've been seeing released for this season.They are truly unique. Dr.'s Remedy should make more of these types of gliters for Spring and Summer. They would totally be a hit,as they are so easy to apply,cover in one coat, and are super easy to remove. KUDOS to Dr.'s Remedy for the glitters in this collection. They rock!

I haven't done a nail review in awhile. I don't make it a habit to review every type of nail I use,simply because each day seems to run into the next,and I lose track of which nails I use each week. But I feel that these particular nails deserve a review all their own.

I hadn't tried these before until a few weeks ago.And I must say, these are a great departure from some of the ones I am used to using. Ibought this set of nails at my Walgreens,and since I was in need of some short style nails.

What attracted me to these first is the French style,which is not so ordinary among most brands of artificial nails these days,however,these particular nails,not only have French tips,they also have simulated moons.The moons of these nails are what make them so unique and natural looking. I am wearing a pair right now,and my husband complemented me on them this morning,saying they were a very nice natural looking length. I sometimes use these or these or most often I use the Active Oval nails,for which I haven't even done a review...oh my! I haven't even reviewed my favorite artificial nails,however, here you can see a photo of the oval nails,that gives you an idea of what I am referring to.

Now,on to the review. :-)

Here in the corner of the box,you can see where the package emphasizes that the nails have natural looking moons.

I have opened the box to show you better what the contents look like. At the bottom,there is a little vial of Pink Gel nail glue. Above that are four sets of nails with self tabs.The tabs are removable,and make for easy application of the smaller size nails.Once you've applied the nail,all you do is twist off the tab. They are also numbered,that way,when you go back to use them again,you know what size you need.The larger size nails do not have self tabs nor are they numbered.

You can also see there is a well containing more nails.The package contains 24 nails in 12 different sizes.

There is also a manicure stick,which I have found is good for pushing away excess glue. There is also supposed to be a mini file in this box,I do not have it pictured,probably because that is the first thing I grab when I open the box is the nail file.

I normally need a different size for each nail.With most boxes of artificial nails,I usually get two uses out of the box,without having to resize any of them on the second set. So I wore the first set a few weeks ago,and then when I went to apply the second set yesterday, I found that there was no duplicate nails for my pinky and index nails. I did file a couple of smaller nails down to serve for my pinkies,however, all of the rest of the nails were too big,and it would have been troublesome to try to make them fit my index fingers since I was in a bit of a hurry.So, I reached into a little box I keep of unused nails just for that purpose.

This is a little plastic craft container,that I use to keep unused nails from various packages of artificials that I've used over the past year. I took a nail from here,found a match,and used it for my index finger.My index finger is not pictured in the review since it is not the same type of nail. When I have some free time,I do go in and file some of these nails down,that way they may be used,without letting anything I've purchased go to waste.

As far as application goes,these are extremely easy to apply.I take my time,push my cuticles back with the manicure stick,and fish a bit for the right size nails.I line them all up in order,and then take out the glue. This is actually the first time I've used the Pink nail glue with these nails.In the past,with other sets of nails,I haven't found the glue contained,to be easily applied. I normally use the larger bottle of glue that comes with the 100 count of Active Square nails pictured below.It drips onto the nail alot easier,as the Pink gel glue requires alot of squeezing for me to get the contents out. This time though I did not have that trouble with the glue,and I am not able to say why.

I love the natural design. I like the ease of application. I especially love the natural-looking moons.
What I didn't like,was that I didn't get double use of the package contents the way I normally do with the other French nails I've used from Kiss. I normally do wear the Kiss nails in the medium length.I have also on occasion used Nailene.

Broadway Nails have various Design,French,and Natural nails to suit just about everyone's style. I bought mine at Walgreens. You can also find them at Target,WalMart,and CVS pharmacy. I believe they can also be ordered online at some of the online drugstore shops.

I had a couple of neons from Bootie Babe I wanted to share with you. These photos somehow were forgotten a couple of weeks ago ,during my swatchathon. I actually love the neons from Bootie Babe. The first one I have for you is called Lime So Fine.

This polish applied much like a jelly. It was still translucent after two coats,however,it came out really smooth,and there was no streaking like there was with the pastels I received.

The other one I have for you is called Mean Tangerine.

It's so bright,it's almost blinding,but I love this color! It also covered in two coats. The consistency was sheer like the other one I swatched.

I do like the Bootie Babe neon polishes much better than the pastels.

I am down to nubbins again,and this polish applied like a dream. It took just two thin coats to make it opaque. I love the brush for this polish.It made application very easy. I got carried away and added a coat of Kleancolor Chunky Holo Fuschia.

Last night I had the good fortune of reaching into my mailbox and finding a box from the lovely Jenni of Gold Speck Nails .

today I very carefully unwrapped the box,and delved into it's contents :-)

Here is a photo of what she sent me:

I received two MUA polishes,two BarryM Nail Paint polishes,and an Accessorize polish called Notorious. She also sent me those cute little leapard print nail files,and below it,the little wheel of gold and silver bullion beads for nail art.

for Pink Wednesday,I am wearing Kleancolor Metallic Fuschia. This one is a two coater,it applied very easily,and though the picture is not quite true to color,I like the actual color itself. The part I didn't like was the staining upon removal. This and all the other Kleancolor Metallics,except for Metallic Red and Metallic Mango,were the only two that did not stain my nails.

Dr's Remedy Fall Fever 2011 swatches and review

Today I have some swatches of the Dr.'s Remedy polishes for review. The fall line includes three fierce shades to welcome the crisp fall weather! (This review is a little late,considering I haven't been feeling well for the past couple of days.)

First up is Balance Brick a modern maroon with body and balance.

Although my camera is pulling some pink tones here,the shade is more of a warm brick red creme. I loved the formula on this one.It was easy to apply,and covered my nails evenly in three coats.Both of these pics were taken in the morning sunlight,however,I believe the one below,even though it's partially shaded shows the truer color of the polish.

Next up is Noble Navy a sea-at-dusk shade that reflects light and brings dimension to tips and toes alike.

I truly love this shade of blue.It's not a vampy blue, like some navys that will appear black in low light or indoors. It's a shade of blue that includes just a tinge of royal blue,that gives it an extra touch of something. It covered in two coats,and again,very easy to apply.

Last of these fierce fall shades is Defense Deep Red,a rich bordeaux with a mystifying matte finish.

My press release described this as a matte finish,however,I am not seeing any matte finish.It is truly the opposite of matte,in that it is has a very shiny and jelly-like quality to it. I used three coats for opacity,and you can still see the translucent jelly quality in these pics.This is not a bad thing. I love jelly polishes,in fact they are one of my favorite finishes.So wether it is matte or not,is not really an issue for me. The color is a bit on the vampy side of red,in a good way. In real life it does appear darker than in these photos,however,this one was pictured inside my lightbox. (please excuse the little itty black dots you may see---they're little bits of flakie polish that would not come off my nail from a previous manicure,and I actually thought that I could hide them beneath this gorgeous burgundy polish!)

I do have a favorite in this group.It's the blue one.It is a take on navy that is truly unique,and I believe I will find myself wearing this polish throughout the fall and winter season.

Wow,I can't believe I have made it to day 6,lol! I have a hard time committing to some things,let alone this blog,haha! Anyway, for today's untried,I pulled out Nubar Gem,also from the Prisms collection.Gem is a muted taupe grey with fine holographic glitter.Boy is it ever glitterific! I just love this one.I believe it might be my favorite of the Nubar Prisms colors. My bottle hasn't been used since I bought it last year,and I feel,even though I shook it good, the pigmentation wasn't quite right.It was sheer at first,but built up nicely by the third coat.

Both photos were taken inside my lightbox,I think the second photo gives you a better idea what the color really looks like.To me there is more taupe than grey in this polish.The holographic glitter is truly insane!

I took it off the very next day,as I didn't want anyone noticing how glittery my nails were.It was one of those days where glitter would have been appropriate.

Today I decided to wear one of the polishes from the Nubar Prism collection called Treasure.This one is not a treasure,it's a dud,as far as holographics go. It was sheer and I used three coats,thinking that would do it,but as you can see,there is VNL.

Oh my look who snuck in for a visit! It's one my Disney stuffed animals,lol! Yes, this was a gift from my dear husband. I believe it is one of the characters from the movie LIlo and Stitch. I am not really sure because the tag doesn't really say. As a girl I had tons of stuffed animals, so many,that when I went to bed at night,it was a nightly ritual to remove them so that I would have a place to sleep,lol!

Do you still collect stuffed animals? I do! :-)

Kleancolor Metallic Red,a color that I received from Maria at Nails Made Simple

This shade of red is so pretty.It's metallic and covered in one coat,however,I used two. Thank you,Maria!

Both photos were taken in my lightbox,with flash, at night,since I didn't have time during the day to swatch.I really prefer doing outdoor photos more.

Bootie Babe nail polish swatches and review

Today I have swatches of the two pastels I received from Bootie Babe Cosmetics .

First up is Slinky Pinky. It is a pink pastel creme,that would have covered in one coat,if I had left well enough alone. I didn't like the way it streaked,as some pastels do,so I applied a second coat,after which the polish self-leveled,which was truly nice. Photo taken in sunlight,which comes a whole lot later,now that the season has changed.

And here is Slinky Pinky in the shade. I couldn't decide which pic was more true to the shade,so I included both of them.

Next up is Lilac Lunatic.Such a cute name! This one applied a bit better than Slinky Pinky.It was smoother.

The formula on these may not be consistent,I believe Slinky Pinky's formula was a teeny bit thicker than this lilac pastel.Here is Lilac Lunatic in the shade.Clean-up on this one could have been a bit better.

And in the sunlight,unfortunately you can see all the faults I made with application. It really does look nice IRL,however, photos always seem to magnify every little detail,just like they say being on camera adds pounds.

Now,I want to address a few of the issues I encountered with the actual packaging. First of all,when I opened my bottle of Slinky Pinky this is what I saw:

Goop around the neck of the bottle.Dried up, caked up goop.
Secondly, the brush. You can see from the photos below how wonky the brush is.

And of course third,the cap itself,which is way to small for an adult with small hands.I say small hands,because I do have small hands. The cap was difficult to hold on to while polishing the nails,and besides the wonky brush,it is actually too short. So the combination of these two things may have affected application just a bit. I do know from keeping up with the conversations on the Bootie Babe Facebook page that there will be "a new and improved cap,with the next shipment,that will be taller and easier to hold." I hope that there will be some improvement to the brushes as well.

In summary,these are some of the great pluses of these polishes.

All in all,though, for $6 a piece,these are truly a novelty item,that many women will want to own,just for the shape of the bottle. The formula was fairly decent,my package arrived intact with no spillage,and I should also add that these polishes are BIG3free,cruelty free,and are available for international shipping! Shipping was incredibly fast!

Franken fun

I was playing a whole lot the other night,with some string,or bar glitter, that I picked up at the local discount nail supply (that just happens to be right down the street from where I attend worship services on Sunday.) Ok,there are some stories here. First of all, in the spring,I found out about this store,and one Sunday,as I sat and waited for the service to begin,I sent a text update to Facebook ,asking "should I feel guilty that I would rather be down the street, or it must be a sign from God,that this store is just down the street!"

Later in September,I woke up early one morning,dreaming about polish.There were a couple of name brand polishes,Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure and Deborah Lippmann to name a couple. In my dream I had a vision of a lavender jelly, a la Deborah Lippmann GITA, only it was lavender,and had purple bar glitter running through it.

A couple of weeks later,I woke up,put the coffee on,and as I wasn't entirely awake yet, I looked over at the coffee pot,and thought "the polish is cooking." LOL! I really was cooking up polish in my sleep!

Which leads to this post. I finally got up the nerve to pull out a little bottle of Pixel polish swatched here, and take out the string glitter and mix a few drops in my little plastic art thingy.

Here you can see where I poured a few drops of the Pixel polish,and then added about a couple pinches of the glitter,which I picked up with a set of tweezers that were close at hand.I would have normally used a small spoon,as I do have a set of teeny tiny spoons labeled,PINCH,DASH,SMIDGEN,etc,for this very purpose.

There is one other thing I want to talk about before you look at my finished product on the nail wheel. My initial inspiration for this franken came from that dream I had,however,when I started seeing swatches in the interwebs, of the upcoming China Glaze 3D Eye Candy polishes,inspired by Marilyn Monroe,I knew that this franken had to happen.There is a polish in that set called Marry a Millionaire,and since I do love all things purple,I went gaga when I saw it swatched the first time on thegirlwithabow,who happens to be a gal who loves nail polish in Australia.

Ok,assuming you were able to read through all of that,without skipping to peek at my franken,here it is.

As you can see I was able to get great coverage on just the one swatch.I didn't make enough to do a proper mani,because I was not very sure I actually wanted to continue after I swatched it. I am still on the fence as to wether it is actually worth making a small bottle of it for occasional use.I am impressed with the purple glitter,being iridescent it flashes to green both on the nail wheel and in the pot it came in. This was a very pretty glitter and it was so much fun to play with.

So,yes,I think I probably will go ahead and make a small bottle of it,even though it doesn't come close to even being a dupe for Marry a Millionaire.I think it's worth it? What about you?

Starting today,and throughout the month of November, I will be joining Nailed to the T and several other bloggers in a 30 day challenge of going through our untried polishes.

So to begin my 30 days of untried polishes,I have picked OPI's You Don't Know Jacques Suede!

it's not that long ago they came out,however,this one and the other one I have OPI Lincoln Park After Dark Suede have been in my untrieds since I bought them a couple of years ago.

I took this photo outdoors in the shade.I used three coats for opacity. I never did like the original You Don't Know Jacques,and I don't really like those types of colors at all,however, there is something about the Suede polishes that makes them extra pretty. I thought it would look even prettier with top coat,but as it turns out,I did apply top coat,and found it didn't really do a whole lot for the look.Then I realized the directions on the little label,says "do not apply top coat". It also says top coat would look good on tips only. Well,if my nails were longer,I might have done that,but I like it just the way it looks in this photo.

In September Bootie Babe Cosmetics held a limerick contest on Facebook . There were 6 of us who entered,and all 6 of us won the contest,which was a set of neon Bootie Babe fingernail polish in little bottles shaped like a woman's rear end.LOL! Here are pics of the polishes they sent me. I was also sent a couple pastels for review. Aren't the bottles cute?! :-)

OPI Go Goth Nevermore,which some say is exactly like OPI Ink.I think I have a mini bottle of that one around here too.

This is WnW Correction Tape,also from the On the Prowl collection. I am pretty sure I layered this one over Ready to Pounce,but after I took the pics,I completely forgot.This photo is taken in my lightbox and the one below, is taken in my bathroom,after I cut the nails down.One of them had already broken.

So those are the last of my halloween manis! Now,on to something completely different!

Soulstice Spa Fall Nail Colour swatches and review

Hello dear readers, today I will be doing a review of these two polishes that were so kindly sent to me for review from the lovely people at Soulstice Spa.

The two colors I received are Ibiza, and LA.

First up is Ibiza

Ibiza is described as a hot pink shine,to me it is more a creme,that dries to satin matte finish. I don't normally use topcoat,because I like to use drying drops instead,but with this one you might want to add a top coat for more shine.Ibiza is very well pigmented,and the formula was very nice.

I wore this colour for several days.I cannot say that I don't love the colour.It's a very pretty hot pink. It covered in two coats,but after 3 days of wear,I applied a third coat for this review,as there was a little tip wear.
Next up is LA-Stars and sparkle;glitter dust.

For purposes of this review,I used three coats.LA has lots of silver,blue,hot pink,and red glitter suspended in a clear base.The glitter pieces are small,and do not lend to any sort of opacity.I think it makes a good layering polish.I cannot really compare it to any other glitter I have on hand.The glitter pieces are all uniform in size.

In conclusion,I liked Ibiza.The colour is very pretty,the formula is nice,and since I wore it for three days,I would have to say that it is a win,in my book!

LA was a bit of a disappointment.Yes,there is a lot of glitter packed inside the bottle,but it just doesn't translate well to the nail. I do still think it makes a good layering polish.

Now that I am back to feeling better,and have gotten things back in order at work,and at home,I've managed to finally get a chance to try the Wet n' Wild On the Prowl polishes,which I received from Amber .
So here is one of the polishes I got,called Ready to Pounce.I love a good purple polish,and this one did not dissapoint.It was sheer at first,but convered in two coats.The brush was decent,and the formula on these Wet n' Wild polishes,was fairly nice!

Don't have a whole lot to say,however,I do appreciate you reading my blog.Thanks for the kind comments,and thank you VERY much for following! :-)

1. Alkalize your body. Lemon is the ideal food for restoring acid-alkali balance. Drinking freshly squeezed lemon juice in water, or adding it to tea, salad dressings (in place of vinegar), baking or cooking, helps maintain the body's internal climate at a pH level which supports healthy bacteria instead of the viruses and harmful bacteria which thrive in more acidic environments. Apple cider vinegar is another great way to improve your body's alkalinity.

2. Give your body an herbal boost. Hundreds of herbal supplements and tinctures exist to give the immune system additional support during the winter. Fresh herbs and whole food remedies are always preferable, since your body can absorb more of their value.

3. Get a full night's sleep. Everybody's different: your body may need anywhere from 6 to 10 hours of sleep each night. Whatever your personal sleep requirement is, get it! Not only does caffeine rob your body of minerals and vitamins, it also dehydrates you. If you drink coffee, make sure you add an additional two glasses to your water intake per cup of coffee.

6. Kick the sugar habit. This is an important one. You will see noticeable results in your energy levels, weight distribution, immunity and your ability to think clearly when you break the cravings and stop eating refined sugar. Healthier sugars such as agave and stevia in small amounts are preferable, but avoid artificial sweeteners like aspartame and Splenda - they are even worse than cane sugar.

7. Stock up on raw fruits and vegetables. With their antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, fiber and enzymes, the nutritional content you receive from raw fruits and veggies is unparalleled. Many vitamins like C are antioxidants which protect your cells from environmental toxins. Dark-colored produce (berries, kale, broccoli) tends to be higher in flavonoids, polyphenols and other antioxidants. The perfect source of minerals is seaweed, which is sold dried, but can often be found raw in health food stores.

8. Get regular acupuncture treatments. Acupuncture creates the release of your body's own chemicals (neurotransmitters and neuro-hormones) that affect immune reactions and regulation of blood pressure, blood flow, and body temperature. Scheduling regular acupuncture visits can provide you with strength and vitality to boost your immune system and prevent disease.

9. Spend time out in the cold. Exercise can make a noticeable difference to your health and happiness by releasing endorphins. Most of us spend 90% of our lives indoors, inhaling dubiously filtered air and other people's germs, so take every opportunity to get outside. Time spent outdoors in the cold also stimulates the thyroid gland.

10 . Nurture yourself! Make sure you take time to yourself, spend some time with friends, and indulge in a massage, a hot bath, or an energy work session when you want one. Our bodies respond to our emotions - if you're feeling overwhelmed and anxious, it can manifest in a sore throat or a cold. Create a space within yourself and your living environment for harmony, love and joy. When you're happy, you're far less likely to get sick!

Here is what I got today. I wanted to reward myself for being good this week.( I was bad,and I don't want to go into detail,but some of you know the story.)

I really didn't get much,but it was enough to make me feel like a queen!

First of all,a bottle of polish,Orly It's Not Rocket Science,from last fall's Orly Cosmic FX collection. I had an Ulta coupon for $5 off a $10 purchase,and would you believe my Ulta still has the Cosmic collection?!
I really like It's Not Rocket Science because it's green. Green is my favorite color next to purple,and nudes of course,in nail polish anyway.

The other item pictured above is a plush pair of Earth Therapeutics Aloe Moisture Gloves.My nails are in need of alot of TLC,and since I'd been looking for some gloves like these,I took advantage of them.They were two dollars off the regular price.

And that my dears,is my haul for today! ;-D

I've installed a comment system

Hello readers,after a bit of thought,I decided to install something called IntenseDebate commenting on my blog.Now that I've been getting more comments,I felt it was necessary to install something that would make it easier for me to reply to your comments. There is the added benefit,also,of commenters being able to reply to each other,which I think is really neet!

There is only one downside.After installing the system,I noticed that on my last post,the comments there had been deleted,and I hope you won't hold that against me. Hopefully things will run smoothly from here forward.

Another OPI Go Goth

Hello ladies,(and gents)!

Today I would like to show you another of the polishes from the OPI mini Go Goth set. This one is called Sanguine.I have to tell you I am truly stumped by the names of some of these polishes.For instance,the one called Unripened pictured here What exactly is "unripened"? I can understand something like fruit being "not ripe" being "ripe" or even, too "ripe". But "unripened"? Must be a halloweeny thing. I don't have a clue.If you know,please say something in the comment section. :-D

Two coats.Sunlight.

So for today,it's called Sanguine.I googled it. Sanguine is defined as "bloody" ,"consisting of or relating to blood" and "bloodthirsty." So yes,I would say this is definitely a Halloween name. Please ignore the dent on the edge of my middle finger.I took great care in applying this polish,while I was at my workstation,however,at some point during the day,I tapped my hand on the desk,and woila,the nail has a chip/dent whatever.

I would definitely say this is a blood red polish,although I don't find it repulsive in any sort of way.It's rather pretty,and I love the way it shimmers indoors.It almost takes on a brown cast indoors,but I didn't feel indoor lighting did it much justice.

A couple of NOTD's

here are a couple of nail colors I wore.Well I am still wearing OPI Unripened from the mini Go Goth collection from last year. I pulled it out yesterday,and just absolutely love the pretty aqua-colored micro-glitter within it's blackened base. I have been staring at my nails for a couple days now.Just look at the gorgeous green micro-glitter! I believe I used three coats,and topped it off with Dermelect Instant Nail Thickener.

And here is an NOTD I did while I was still wearing my super long nails that I reviewed here

This is Sally Hansen Hard as Nails,and it's called Pumping Iron. I super love the silver metallic look of this polish. It covered in two coats and there were absolutely no issues with application!

Well, I am not much for words today. I worked Thursday thru Monday,and this morning I was all stressed out,so the hubby told me to take it easy and be good to myself. I took a nap,and now I am catching up on my blog posting.

Have you tried any of the new Sally Hansen Hard as Nails line? When I saw the display out this spring,I didn't really go for it much,but I love metallics,so this one go to come home with me at only $1.99
I believe that Walgreens has a set of Halloween colors in a special display from this particular brand.

From left to right are Kleancolor Metallic Red,Metallic Mango, Metallic Aqua,Daisy Nail Laquer in Explosive Atom,which I believe is a holographic glitter,Kleancolor Metallic Fuschia,Metallic Green,and Metallic Purple.

These are my first Kleancolors ever.I still want to acquire some of the Kleancolor Chunky Holos in the near future.

Just a quick post to let you know I haven't fallen off the face of the earth! This photo is taken at my workstation,at home,and sitting in front of the trusty computer is my trusty companion,Amber!

I believe she is looking straight at the camera,and showing me what a wise woman she can be. She is 11 years old! Wow,I can't believe she is that old,but yes,I have had her since 2000.And she is so playful,and at the same time loves to sit with me while I work.

Speaking of work,off to it now. Take care everyone. I will be back!
