Hard Candy Sprinkles swatches and review

(Hard Candy was kind enough to send along these samples for review.)

Oh,my do these spring (bring) LOL ...a smile to my face! Yummy milky-based pastel glitters! Oh how I love them so!

The Hard Candy press release describes these as "clear base", but not so. They are clearly milky pastel based. Not a problem at all! As far as I am concerned they are edible looking to me!

First up is Cotton Candy Pink:

Outdoors in shade

Indoors with flash

Cotton Candy Pink is clearly a milky cotton candy pink base with silver and navy glitter. It applied very easily with two coats for full coverage and had a normal dry time.

Outdoors in shade

Sugar Rush was a little hard to capture as far as color. In the photo above the base appears more gray,
while in the photo below the base appears more white, but not completely white.Maybe beige,it is hard to tell. Sugar Rush is a pretty pastel with silver and navy glitter.

Indoors with flash

This one also applied very easily with two coats for full coverage, and dry time was also normal.

Are you in favor of milky glitters, or have you moved to on to what's next? Which of the Candy Sprinkles have you tried so far?

(Product in this post was kindly provided by the pr representatives for review and my honest opinion.)

Hard Candy Itsy Glitzy Shot of Lemon

Hard Candy contacted me recently, and was kind enough to send me a passle of their new lacquers from the   line that is now available at Walmart.

This is Shot of Lemon, from one of the five new finishes that were just released recently. This one appears to be a sheer lemon yellow with a micro glass fleck shimmer. I love glass flecks. I used three coats for this photo, but you could probably do with two IRL. It was very easy to apply, dried fast, and surprisingly very pigmented on the cottonball after removal. I go, wow, I didn't know there was that much yellow in there, what with it going so very sheerly.

Hard Candy is available at Walmart. I went to a couple Walmarts in my area and picked up about 6 more shades. I could not resist. Wait 'til you see the rest of the swatches! These polishes are only $3.97 each, although I've heard in some regions they are ringing up at $4 even.

A couple from China Glaze

Here I have two more swatches for you.
These are both shades from the Cirque du Soleil collection.
(Provided for review.)

This first one is called Igniting Love. It went on nicely in two coats and dried to a nice jelly-like shine. This is I believe a red leaning orange. When I first wore it I thought "oh,it's red", in a sort of nonchalant fashion,as if to say, " I hardly ever wear red." And truth be told, with all the color options and finishes we have these days, why wear red.

Speaking of finishes! This one is my favorite of the Cirque du Soleil, a glitter finish in a milky white base.( nailgasmmm!)

This has every rainbow of glitter in a creamy white base, that was very easy to apply. I only needed two coats to get even coverage of the glitter.I love it, it is as if a piece of cupcake icing is sitting on my nails. So very delicious!

Did you get any of the Cirque du Soleil colors? If so which ones caught your fancy?

Some swatches of China Glaze polishes

Continuing to catch up on my backload of swatches:

Here are a few of the polishes I received to review for the Holidays.

This one is China Glaze Blue Bells Ring. It was a one coater, and applied like butta'.

Next is Merry Berry, which applied unevenly. It did even out after three coats. Almost appears jelly-like.

Here is Angel Wings, a gorgeous gold glitter, with holographic gllitter besides. It applied sheerly, was opaque in two coats. It dried to a gritty finish, however, it was very easy to remove.

And finally the one polish from this collection that I really wanted to love. Pizzazz. A multi-rainbow colored glitter in a clear base, much like alot of the Happy Birthday glitters that prevailed during 2011-2012.

Here you can see I applied one coat to the index finger, two coats to my ring finger, three to my middle nail, and four to the pinky. After four coats I gave up,because even after that it still didn't look right to me. I don't want a glitter that has to keep being applied until the seventh coat for it to be completely opaque.

Anyway, those are my swatches of the four polishes I received for review for the Holidays.

I really loved Blue Bells Ring and Angel Wings. I can get along with Merry Berry, but not with Pizzazz.

Zoya Pixie Dust Swatches & Review!

Two posts in one day?! Ay caramba!

Spring is only two days away ya'll. I am somewhat in favor of Spring and somewhat not. Why you may ask?

Number one: The advent of Spring in Texas, means that Summer is quickly, and I mean quickly on it's tail. As far as I can recall in the 20 plus years I have lived in Texas, Spring doesn't really exist. In my mind, once the temperature hits 80 degrees , it's Summer.
At some point this week the temperature will hit 80 degrees. Enuf said.

Now onto today's nail polish, which was provided by the lovely Zoya Fairies for review purposes.

First up is Zoya Godiva, a soft nude with sugar sparkle.

For Zoya Godiva, I used two coats for full coverage. I really love this one.

Second is Zoya Vespa, a kiss of mint with sugared sparkle. Three coats were used for this one.

And here we have Zoya Nyx, a perfect periwinkle with sparkled sugar, lol, I meant to say sugared sparkle. :-) I used three coats for full coverage.

Next is London, a fog gray with sugared sparkle. It just dawned on me the name of this polish reminds me of  London Fog coats.

The fifth polish in this group is Dahlia. What a beautiful name. Dahlia is referred to as a "black beauty" with sugared sparkle. I believe this one required three coats also for full coverage.

And last but not least, is Zoya Chyna. Zoya Chyna is a red dazzle with sugared sparkle. I used three coats for full coverage. As a sidenote to this, while applying Chyna, I immediately thought of pizza sauce. That is how red it appears to me. I am still wearing this one as a full mani.

In conclusion all of the Pixie Dust polishes were very easy to apply, dried quickly, and were very easy to remove as far as glitter removal goes. They all came off with one swipe of the cotton ball to each nail with regular acetone remover. This is not much of a surprise to me,as Zoya's glitter polishes have always been super easy to remove. My only regret, is that the rest of my glitter collection from other brands cannot be as easy to remove as these. The Pixie Dust line is made from Zoya's exclusive Matte Sparkle formula.

My favorites of these six are Godiva and Nyx. Which ones are your favorites?

The Zoya Pixie Dust collection is still available on Zoya.com

Keep your eye on the Zoya site also for the Summer edition of Zoya Pixie Dust

Polish in this post was provided by the manufacturer for my honest opinion. The acceptance of free product for review, does not in any way affect the outcome of my opinion and review. Please see my disclosure policy for more information.

Zoya Lovely Spring 2013 swatches and review

Spring is almost here, and what a better time to show you the Lovely Spring collection from Zoya.

(The product in this post was provided for review by media representatives in exchange for my honest opinion and review of the product.)

The six shades in this collection are broken up into three pastel cream shades and three pastel metallic shades.

First up I have Jacqueline: full coverage, magnolia nude creme created as a custom shade for fashion designer Peter Som.

Zoya Jacqueline

Full coverage meant three coats for me. One very thin coat to start, and by the third coat  any streakiness I saw
had leveled itself out.Thank God. I normally detest pastel cremes, and for that very reason, the streakiness and  bald spots. But that was not a problem with Jacqueline, for as you can see she dried to a glossy finish. No top coat was used.

Next  is Zoya Neely, a full coverage Spring green, originally created as a custom runway shade for fashion designer Peter Som.

Zoya Neely here shown with three coats as well. It applied uneven and with a few bald spots here and there.I didn't want to risk a fourth coat, knowing the formula wasn't leveling out the way it should. I blame myself for the way it looks. I may have been impatient for each coat to dry.
However, you can still see where it dried to a glossy finish.

Finally the last pastel creme in this group, Zoya Blu.

Zoya Blu is described as a pale, baby blue that is both flattering and fun on the nails. I am actually surprised at how well it looks on me in the photo,as I didn't particularly like it IRL. It was even more difficult to apply than Neely, yet it turned out so much prettier. This is with three coats, drying to a glossy finish.

Next we have the three pastel metallics of the Lovely collection.

First is Piaf, a fresh forsythia yellow metallic, which is another custom created runway shade for fashion designer Zang Toi.

Piaf would have been fine at two coats for me,but I used three for full coverage. I actually think it looks much better IRL than in the pic above. I found it to be sheer, but easy to apply. It's a yellow that I can wear, which is unusual since there are few yellows that look good on me.

Next is Zoya GeiGei: a full coverage blushing cherry blossom metallic pink.Another custom shade created for fashion designer Zang Toi.

So yeah, this one was no trouble at all. It was sheer like Piaf, and covered easily in three coats.Dry time was short also. You could wear this one at one coat, for just a light pink nude look,or go full coverage as seen in the photo. Either way,it's a gorgeous shade of pastel pink.

And last of the Lovely collection is my favorite color...purple.

Zoya Julie is another gorgeous pastel metallic. It is a full coverage soft wisteria purple, originally created as a custom runway shade for fashion designer Zang Toi.

I used three coats for full coverage and the dry time was fast.

In conclusion, these are some lovely pastel shades for Spring,as well as Easter, and would make beautiful presents for Mother's Day.
The collection of six is available for $48 on Zoya.com
Each color individually is only $8.

Zoya is Big 5 Free: the first nail polish company to remove formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, dibutyl phthalate, toluene, and camphor.

Again, products in this post were provided by the pr representatives or manufacturers for my unbiased opinion.

Blog update: I am still here.

Yep. Here I am. It seems like I haven't  polished my nails or blogged about them for a long time now. Life happens. Great job happens. Busy me going to and fro. Just enough time to eat, sleep, and go to work. Overtime happens. Even more busy-nessssss!

This went on for three months at least, and after it was all said and done, I thought I had come down with a cold. I usually kick a cold fairly easily, with lots of liquids, and large doses of Echinacea and Zinc.

By the end of two weeks in February, the cold wasn't gone. Here in Texas the wind blew alot, bring all sorts of allergens into the air. Walking to my car at 11:00 pm every night could not have helped.

And so, to the doctor Ms. Glazed went. Doctor says," Me thinks you have a bit of allergies." Doctor listens to lungs, changes her mind, and says," Oops.It is pneumonia ye have. I will prescribe an antibiotic immediately and off to get a lung x-ray you will go."

Thanks be to God, almost four weeks later, I am finally feeling back to my old self again. That supposed cold had kicked my butt, and taken all my interest in anything and everything with it. It was a mild case of pneumonia easily treated, however,if I had seen the doctor sooner, I might have felt better sooner.

I have so many things to share with you. Of course, leaving out the aforementioned TMI, there will be swatches, a few photos of stuff I've hauled in the past few months, and a few photo ops with my beloved kitty,Amber, who has tried very hard to not stray from my side.

I hope you are all well, and that the New Year is treating you well.

RAISE YOUR HAND IF YOU WANT TO LOOK YOUNGER…
Don’t let your hands give your age away!

Women pull out all the stops when it comes to fighting aging: eating right, working out, Botox, fillers, hair color, sleep – you name it.  But the war against Father Time is usually fought from the neck up. One look at a woman’s hands and all those efforts are for naught.

You’re looking at your hands now aren’t you?  Happy with what you see?

Ellen Sirot, the nation’s top hand model, not only wanted – but also needed – top quality hand care to perfect the tools of her trade.  Nothing on the market was able to provide her with the results she demanded along with the preventative care she desired.  So Sirot set out on a mission with CCA Industries to create a new category and offer women the most effective and affordable hand care possible.

Hand Perfection® is the only Anti-Aging Hand Care treatment line available at mass market.  The line consists of a Nourishing Day Cream and Revitalizing Night Cream which when used together, are clinically proven to help turn back the hands of time - guaranteed! The fragrance-free, non-greasy formulas go on smooth and absorb quickly for an invisible, weightless feel. There is also a Nail and Cuticle Treatment which is clinically proven to moisturize the cuticles and help improve the look and feel of the nail bed for an overall healthy and beautiful looking hand.

“We dedicate so much time and effort to our faces, but then we totally neglect our hands,” explains Ellen. The skin on the hands is just as delicate as the skin around the eyes.  And think of what your hands go through in a single day.  It’s time to give hands the same attention as your face and body.

Hand Perfection Anti-Aging Hand Care products have been specifically formulated for the unique requirements of the skin on our hands. Powered by an exclusive and proprietary “RevitaStim Active Complex with Olivem-1000, Peptides and Hyaluronic Acid,” Hand Perfection visibly reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and crepiness and delivers youthful radiance, improved elasticity and fullness within just 2 weeks.

Drew Edell, EVP, R&D and Product Development explains, “A liquid crystal emulsion contained in the Complex closely mimics and associates with the skin’s lipid barrier.  This compatibility helps to restore and maintain the skin’s natural barrier and speed delivery of the functional ingredients to the skin for maximum performance.  Additionally, the inclusion of SPF 15 in the Day Cream helps protect the skin from further damage.  On application there is an immediate improvement in the skin’s flexibility and appearance and within 2 weeks, signs of aging on the skin are significantly improved”.

“Just as anti-aging products revolutionized the facial care market, the Hand Perfection collection will generate the same kind of excitement in the hand care market,” states Dunnan Edell, CEO – President of CCA Industries.

In clinical tests, 91% of consumers were shown to have a significant improvement in the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, skin texture and skin smoothness in just two weeks with noticeable results in as few as five days when using the Hand Perfection System.   88% had a significant improvement in the appearance of crepiness and there was a greater radiance & brightness in hands. When using the Nail and Cuticle Treatment Pen, 100% of the testers were clinically proven to have more moisturized cuticles and nails.  Overall, dry, aging, damaged hands were tremendously improved after using the Hand Perfection regimen.

Hand Perfection is the first and only hand care system available today at mass marketers that both treats the signs of aging and works to prevent the premature aging of hands.
