Nubar Wildlife and some nail art

Happy first day of fall,ladies!

This manicure has been in the making for a couple of days. I say that because after I finished the nail art striper and added crackle,I ran in to some difficulty applying some fimo slices. I wound up leaving those out,as my husband and I both had a couple of things to take care of with my car,so I didn't have the time or the patience to mess with it anymore.

I am in a hurry so I am just going to post pics for tonight.

Nubar Wildlife is a duochrome polish from the Go Green collection.

Enjoy your weekend! :-)

Kiss Long Curve Overlap Nails

hi everyone! Today I decided to break out my package of Kiss Long Curve Overlap Nails to play with them! This is certainly something I never thought I would try, however, I did purchase them awhile back, somehow knowing I would want to play with them later.

This is what you think of when you think of "talons", right?

These were actually alot easier to apply than the other two types of nails, the Active Square and the Active Oval, all 100 count,by Kiss. They come with the same type of glue and are all sectioned off in little compartments.

Now, I have always wanted to have really long nails! Maybe not this long, but I will be cutting them back to a length I feel comfortable with, which is what I really love about these is that you can cut them or file them,to whatever length you like.

Now,off to polish them! Take care ladies and gents!

Update: Kiss All or One Artificial Nail Remover

Since I last wrote this post regarding Kiss All or One Artificial Nail Remover, I wanted to do an update post, with regards to how I think this product is faring for me personally.

I have been wearing drugstore brand artificial nails, like Nailene and Kiss since November,2010. I remember starting to wear them then, because I wanted a nicely manicured look for holiday occasions with family and such.
My own nails are very hard to keep up. I have had peeling issues since I was old enough to wear nail polish, and later I used salon acrylics, which just did an immense amount of damage to my nails.

I am not bashing acrylic nails, per se. I feel it has alot to do with the particular nail technician you go to. I had one I went to for a lengthy period of time, and not really knowing what sorts of things were wrong or right, I just continued to put up with the "abuse". For instance, the tools that are used, for filing, they are almost like drills. I got to where my nail bed was so incredibly sensitive that I actually felt pain when these nail salon tools were used during acrylic application.

So, I quit the acrylics, and soon afterwards started wearing the drugstore nails, which I have been very pleased with,I might add. They are easy to apply. I have tried some which are for 24 hour wear, and some which are to be worn only for 7 days at a time. I like being able to wear them for at least 7 days. The 24 hour nails, not so much, however, I think they are probably appealing to many women.

Getting back to the subject at hand, since November, I have probably gone through maybe 7 sets of nails. Hard to believe, but again, I don't wear them continuously,in other words, I don't remove one set,and reapply a new set immediately. I will sometimes go a few days even a week or two before applying another set. Sometimes I am content with my nubbins, sometimes not. I think the reason I love artificial nails so much is that they do give me the option to have longer nails.

And I still haven't gotten to the actual subject of this post,LOL! So I really love the All or One by Kiss, pictured above! I love it because you soak your nails for 2 minutes, then brush them up against the bristles inside the container, and voila, a few minutes later, you are sans artificials, and back to nubbins!
I also love the All or One because it moisturizes my nails as it removes the artificials, not like plain acetone, which I had used before, dried my nails and skin out incredibly.

I am on my second container, yes, after a 9 month period,I had to replace the All or One. You see, what happens, after you've used the remover for a certain amount of manicures, the liquid inside starts to turn a murky white, and you can see little flecks of white that are obviously residual particles of the actual nails. But, even when I noticed the murkiness, I kept using the All or One. The thing that clued me in,was today when I was removing the last set I used, the remover was not seeming to do as efficiently as it used to,so I pulled out my new container, which I had already bought in advance, and when I stuck my fingers in it, I realized the difference in what you should be feeling while the liquid inside is doing it's job. I felt a slight tingly sensation, almost a burn, but not a bad kind of burning, and that is how I knew it was time to get rid of the old container.

Well, you learn something new every day, just from experience and from trying products yourself, and I would also like to add this is my own personal experience, and do not recommend you use the product for 9 months at a time, especially if you are using the artificials very frequently. Like I said before, I take breaks
between sets, and that is why it lasted me so long.

I hope this has been an informative post for you, also, I want to thank you for reading it,I know it was a bit long-winded and apparently I had alot I wanted to say today. :-)

Thank you also to all of the new people who have started to follow, and thank you all so much for commenting!

OPI Houston We Have a Purple + NfuOh 49

Hello dear readers,

First I have OPI Houston We Have a Purple from the OPI Texas Collection.

I love the color purple, although this one appears to me to be more of beet-juice color purple. I believe I like my purple's on the more pigmented side, however, who doesn't love a good jelly (oops) sorbet? Hehe! It's a jelly to me! And despite that it took four coats to reach this much opacity, which to me is still not opaque enough for my nails, I absolutely love it. I don't think the pic does it justice.

So as not to be outdone, little miss NfuOh #49 wanted to come out and play. I must have used three coats, two was enough, but then I dented my index,so it turned into three. I am showing it up close and a little blurry to show the beatiful copper-colored flakies in a sheer pink base.

And here is a macro shot of one nail! I thought you might enjoy seeing the flaky goodness in action!

Do you like jelly polishes? Do you prefer straight jellies,or jellies with flakies or glitter?

Soulstice Spa Nail Colour Swatches and Review

Recently I was given the opportunity to try a couple of polishes from Soulstice Spa. Soulstice Spa is located in Saulsalito,California, and sports a wide array of products, such as bath, body care, and nail colours. Ordering Soulstice nail colours is easy, just go to www.soulsticespa.com

They feature a wide array of lush, modern nail colours in 30 distinctive,long-wearing shades! In addition the polishes are 100% vegan,non-toxic(dbp,toluene,and formaldehyde free) and cruelty-free.

On to the swatches.
This is Rome,a classic brick red creme. It covered in one coat, and was very easy to apply. After wearing it awhile I noticed a distinctive jelly-ish quality to it,so I would describe it as being somewhere between a creme and jelly. Love!

This one is in direct sunlight
Sunlight at another angle

And this is Nairobi, a gilded, bronze shimmer,a little brush strokey but that was more due to user application, than the polish. Again, this one covered in one coat, however,I used two. This polish was also easy to apply.

I have nothing but good to say about these polishes, they are so easy to work with, covering in one coat, plus these shades are perfect colors for fall.

Speaking of fall colors,Soulstice Spa has 6 new shades for fall,so check out their website at www.soulsticspa.com

They have a great deal going where you choose any five of their polishes in a five-pack for only $30 + tax and shipping.

You can also find Soulstice Spa on Facebook.

(Polishes were provided for review, please see my disclosure policy for further information.)

This is a good fall color,no?

I hope everyone's labor day holiday was nice. I missed posting an NOTD for yesterday, because Blogger doesn't seem to want to co-operate with my IE7,so I've switched to Google Chrome. Not real excited about that. But at least it seems to work better with Blogger.

I didn't have a clue what to do for my nails,so I turned to a classic favorite,Sally Hansen Black Diamond, from the Diamond Strength line. This is no ordinary black nail color. I once wore it on my nubbin's, before I ever started blogging. And wow!  I was sitting on the couch one evening, and staring at my nubbins, and thinking wow, look at all the pretty colors!

So here is three coats, pictured in the sunlight. I thought the sun would capture all the pretty colors that I had seen under the lamplight, but sadly I was mistaken. In the evening, after the sun goes down, and under the table lamp, there will flash all sorts of pretty little flecks of pink, green, purple, and blue, almost holographic if you will. I believe if you click on the photo to make it bigger, you may be able to see all of the pretty colors!

I believe that this polish is still part of the core Diamond Strength line.

As a sidenote, I have gone back to wearing the Kiss Active Ovals artificial nails. My nails were an uneven length, and I didn't think it was very attractive posting my nails like that. The odd thing is that my pinky and ring finger on both hands were growing out nicely, but the thumb, index, and middle finger, were not catching up,so I cut all of them down.

Don't Teal My Heart Away

Hi,ladies!

I am super-excited to share with you today my teal-colored mani in honor of Ovarian Cancer Awareness month, which is this month. I was fortunate enough  to come by my bottle of Diamond Cosmetics Don't Teal My Heart Away in a giveaway from Jeanie at Midnight Manicures

I am also wearing the polish on my toes, you'll have to trust me on that, I just don't feel comfortable showing them to you.

Anyway, here is my mani.

I am surprised to find that I love this lovely teal creme. I love the formula,it was easy to work with, and covered in one coat, although I used two. It is my first time using any polish from Diamond Cosmetics, and for me it is a total win in my book.

Like I said before,I love the color, and I will probably wear it all month long, with a few touch ups along the way. I also like having my fingers and toes match. Now, if I could just get a matching lippie! ;-D

Have a happy Labor Day weekend, and be safe people!
