Stash Pics and Nail Art Wheels

I have a booboo on one of my nails. I cut  myself while chopping veggies, and therefore my nail(s) are a bit unsightly,so instead of doing a nail post, I am going to show you photos of my stash, and some nail art wheels I got at my local nail supply store. On top of that I had the worst time with my Nikon transfer software today. Something wasn't working right, and I had the toughest time getting it back to running so I could upload pics.I don't know what I would do if I couldn't upload pics. I was practically in panic mode, trying to fix it. Well all is well now,so please enjoy the photos and thank you to all of the new followers who have joined recently.  :-)
                                              Hoard part 1
                                                Hoard part 2

I was at Ulta the other day, and I returned five polishes, and when the store associate asked me what the reason was for the return, I said that I am a polish hoarder. Then she said,"Well, you can't really be a hoarder, because hoarders don't return things!" LOL! Then she mentioned a show on cable about hoarders, and how they can't get rid of their stuff or won't. Apparently that's not me. Thank God!

So how is your week so far? Are you ready for fall to be here? I kind of wish it was fall already and that we could just fast-forward thru this dag-blasted heat! ;-D

Thanks for reading,and stopping by,and commenting,and following! :-D

Non-Pink Wednesday + layering (GITA)

Have you ever just had one of those days? I can't even begin to explain it. I don't even wanna talk about it.

I've found the best therapy is to wipe away the old polish and slap on something new!

I will let the pictures speak for themselves. Indoor lighting with lightbox today, since we had a very overcast day and some showers again.

                                       L'Oreal Water's Edge from last spring/summer?

Don't know why,but I felt like showing you the bottom of the bottle.

And two photos,not one,although I know their different,I can't tell why.
                                                      A macro shot
Just a few things to say about Deborah Lippmann Glitter in the Air. First, I have never paid $18 for a bottle of polish until this one. Second, when I first started seeing swatches of this polish going around the blogosphere, I thought it was butt ugly and agreed with  Alizarine Claws title Contaminated Milk . Not to mention a few other bloggers' reference to it as "elephant vomit" . Okay. Never say never, is all I can say. I said to myself," I will never own this polish." A month or so later, I would say in early April, I decided I HAD to have it.There was no logical reason, except that I had fallen madly and deeply in love with it and had to have it. End of story. :-D

So have you ever really hated a polish when you first saw it swatched? Did you finally end up getting it? Did the butt ugly polish get you too?

Shabby Chic

Hello again! It's been a whole week since I posted a mani! I loved my last crackle mani  so much, I couldn't take it off, because I couldn't stop staring at the crackle effect. To me, it was mesmerizing! LOL!

Here is China Glaze Swing Baby from the Vintage Vixen collection. It's a pinky gold foil that took only two coats for opacity. Notice the rubber band around the bottle top. I have not opened this bottle until today, and one of my friends from the PAA group gave me the best advice for opening polish bottles that are closed too tightly. The rubber band trick works like a charm!

And here is China Glaze Lightning Bolt over Swing Baby. I used a coat of Gelous to smooth it out,and then inm OutTheDoor topcoat. This photo was taken with my lightbox because
we had a beautiful mid-afternoon thunderstorm today, which made taking photos a bit tricky. However, I am very grateful to be blessed by the rain, since it's been extremely hot here in Texas, and the rain had a wonderful cooling effect. My cats even had fun running back and forth out on the porch and back during the downpour.

I hope you don't mind looking at my nubbins today. :-D.  I finally removed the artificial nails, and decided to take a few days break before applying another set of nails.

Pink Mani and layering

After reading Fashion Polish for a few months, I found a layering experiment called Pink Dream

Today's mani incorporates Pink Mani Wednesday and some layering inspired by her post.

this was the end result, after I added China Glaze Broken-hearted Crackle polish.
ColorClub Vintage Couture with Sally Hansen XtremeWear Strobe Light layered.
This is one coat of Milani 3D Digital layered over the above photo.
and these are all the items I used for this mani in the order they were used. The last two are China Glaze Gelous to smooth out the crackle, and the other is inm OutTheDoor topcoat.

I personally thought it turned out pretty, but I don't think the photo of the layering translated too well, after adding the holographic pink. I was thinking of doing just a crackle accent on the ring finger, but after I started to see the  way it was cracking, I just got carried away and did the whole thing. So I am all in all, pleased with the end result.

I hope you enjoyed my layering experiment and crackle pink mani today.

Thank you for all your sweet comments, and a Happy Wednesday to you.

Blue Holos

I asked my husband last week what color he wanted to see me wear, and he said blue.It was as if he had read my mind, because I wanted to wear something blue, I just wasn't ready to make a decision on which one to wear.

So for this post I picked three that I wanted to wear.

First up is China Glaze Techno Teal, from the Tronica collection that was released earlier this year.
I am positively amazed at the holo effect considering there were a few bloggers I know who said the Tronica collection had disappointed them. I have to give them their due, though, because I own none of the former China Glaze holographic polishes. I don't have any of the Kaleidoscope or the OMG! collections,so I can't compare them.

China Glaze Techno Teal covered in two coats. I love it's aquatic blue depth. I am in love with this holographic blue. I could see the holographic effect indoors but wanted to take it out into the light for further observation.

                                                     Sunlight
                                                     Shade

Next for your viewing pleasure is Milani Cyberspace. This is one I picked up at CVS last year, when there was a B1G1. I was kind of disappointed at the time though, because I skipped the green one.

Milani Cyberspace applied very sheerly. I did two coats. I expected this to be the shade that looks slight deeper in the bottle, but at two coats it appears to be a very nice pale blue holo. I imagine this one might be good for layering over another blue polish.
                                                    Sunlight
Shade

Even in the shade it's quite pretty. Very sparkly.

Last, but not least, I have Nubar Absolute from the Nubar Prisms collection.
I applied two coats at first, took photos, then looked again, and said to myself, it really does look pale, so I applied another coat, and took photos again. I couldn't tell the difference. Again, it's pale compared to what it appears in the bottle, but still nice.

Sunlight

Shade

In closing, I think that Milani Cyberspace and Nubar Absolute are very similar, however, the Milani holo is much cooler-toned,and the Nubar one is more on the warmish side.

Out of these three which one is your favorite?

Thanks for reading and looking. And commenting! :-D

So what do you think? Which one is your favorite?

Holographic

This is the mani I wore today. I did my nails last night, and was sure it was all dry, after foooouuuuurrrr hours!!!! When I woke up this morning there was a dent on my middle nail! What the.... So I just took photos of it,because it seems the sun decided to stay for a bit,and even though it's later in the day, I think the sunlight photo turned out well.

This is ColorClub Fashion Addict! I have alot of untrieds and this is one of them. I have heard this one referred to as purple. I would not describe this as purple,so much as a light lavender with alot of pink and silver running through it. Still I think it's a very pretty color, and has a very strong holographic effect, even though the dying light doesn't capture it so well. I am wearing two coats. I could have done with one,but when I applied it last night, I decided to go with two, because I was afraid when the sun got a hold of it, you would be able to see right through the polish. So two coats to be safe.

Here is what it looks like indoors. Kind of washed out.

I am still plodding away at my spreadsheet! Leave  a comment or just say hi!

Good Evening, my fellow laquer addicts! :-D

Swatches

I could not  get a good mani post for today. The sun has been very unkind, slipping in and out of the clouds. It's been hazy most of the day,and while going through my stash, entering all my polishes on my spreadsheet, I encountered my beloved NfuOh's!!!
I couldn't wait to show them to you,and since they had already been swatched on a nail wheel I decided to brave the indecisive sun and see if I could get a semi-good shot of these.

#1) NFU 49
#2) NFU 44
#3) NFU 45
#4) NFU 57
#5) NFU 56

#6) NFU 55
#7) NFU 52
#8) NFU 51
#9) NFU 60

(Below is a better shot of 60,on the far right, you can see the orange flakies in the brown jelly base.)

The only one not swatched and pictured is NFU 51,which is a very good dupe of Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure.

Well, I am almost through organizing, but still don't have a full head count on "every" one who is in attendance, at my polish party. When I get a full count of every one of them, I will let you all know.

Also, I haven't been able to see my follower list, and I wanted to thank everyone who has been following. I believe I may be near the 70 mark. Thank you ALL for being so supportive!

In memory of...

My twitter and facebook friend Kari of  Got Polish?  tweeted on Tuesday,
"In memory of Caylee Anthony, some polish friends and I will be polishing our nails lavender Caylee's favorite color, on Thurs. R.I.P. angel."

So here is my tribute to Caylee, a sweet young innocent, cut down after such a short time here on earth, I can only say that God always takes the good ones first. It brings tears to my eyes as I write this post, and words escape me really,it is just so sad.

Rest in peace,Caylee.

                                                      Sunlight
Shade

Pixel Polish $1.99 at Ulta, the name is Virtual Violet. It looks like a creme in the bottle, and is very, very sheer. After applying four coats, I decided it must be a jelly, since it is obvious you can see some VNL.I love jelly polishes, especially just straight jellies like this one. So I will definitely be keeping this one. Pixel seems to be a fairly new brand of mini-polishes,and so far the only place I know they're sold is at Ulta. There is an incredibly wide range of colors and formulas,I think for $1.99 you can't really go wrong with these.

Space Case

Hello, girlies! I never thought I would get around to finally swatching this one. I fear neons. I wonder if there is a name for that fear. These days there are so many technical names for fears like claustrophobia, agoraphobia, xenophobia, etc. Eventually I will get around to swatching the rest of these colors.

Here is ColorClub Space Case from the Starry Temptress collection. It took two coats for opacity on my tiny nails. From the beginning of application I immediately noticed the little pieces of glitter embedded in this pink polish. In this photo which was taken in sunlight, the glitter pieces appear white. However, indoors,if you hold your fingers up to the light, the glitter captures every color of the rainbow.
So this is one coat of OPI Natural Nail Base Coat, two coats of ColorClub, and a topcoat of inm OuttheDoor. I also applied some NicolebyOPI drying drops.

I would have included an indoor photo, and as it was a shade photo, but they both showed flaws in application that I don't notice in the sunlight pic. Better safe with just the one good pic! ;-)

I hope you like my Wednesday pink mani. I actually got mixed up today, and thought today was Thursday already. So I had done my Thursday mani, and then went "oh,nooooo! It's Wednesday! OMG! " Deep breathe. Sigh.
